For children to learn that they are special to God. We are all ‘unique’

Recap creation story, reading from your wall chart or class book.

Make a ‘Jesus loves Me’ plate.  Show children model of one you have already made.  Use a paper plate to write Jesus loves…. at the top. At the bottom write the child’s name (or encourage them to make their own ‘name mark’. Get child to draw an image of themself in the middle of the plate.

For children to talk about love within the family.

Recap on God’s love for us.

Share with the ‘children a picture/image of the Biblical family for the children to see and discuss.

Draw picture of themselves with a family member of their choice.  Show children a model picture that you have already drawn and explain who is in the picture.

Memory Verse: Learn first part of St. John 3:16

Chant and march this to music

End session with ‘Jesus loves me this I know.

The Family

For children to express love they have for their family.

Talk about the importance and different make up of our families. Ask children for their input.

Be aware that this can be difficult for some of the children as the make up of the families might be very different.

Highlight that all families despite the makeup, are special and important to God

Create circle of our church family wreath by using handprints. Children could draw around the hands, colour and cut out. Put together to make the wreath/ display.

Memory Verse: St John 3:16- Recap and extend the verse.

Our Neighbour

For children to love and respect their neighbour

Read story of the Good Samaritan. And talk about the main points.

Role play the story

Show case to the Sunday School Group/church.

End session with the song learnt week before.

Take pictures of the ‘play’, use to produce a picture album. Stick sentences ‘simplified’ version of the story in this album.
